District 7-AAA football will have a new look in 2015.

With the new Class 6A football playoffs going to a new format next year, in which the top 32 schools across the state with the highest enrollment will be placed into Class 6A, it means it will no longer be an all Rutherford County district.

Stewarts Creek, which has competed in Class 6A the last two seasons, will be moving down to Class 5A due to its enrollment.

On Thursday, La Vergne, which is the lowest populated 6A school, announced it will move down to 5A. The move allowed defending 6A champion Maryville to move up from 5A to 6A.

La Vergne and Stewarts Creek will likely be in the same district beginning next season, but the new divisions will not be announced until a later date.

Meanwhile, Blackman, Oakland, Riverdale, Siegel and Smyrna will likely remain in the same district, with more teams to be added.

All 32 teams in 6A are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs next year. The top four teams in each district in the other five classes will be assured a spot in the playoffs.
